Mr Steven Peter Rider born in Brisbane, graduated from the University of Southern Queensland in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the School of Accounting and Finance.
In 1996 Steven graduated from the University of NSW Business School with a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting after working in public facing accounting roles for commerce and Government.
Mr Steven Rider, member number 2012560, holds the status of Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with CPA Australia, and is a fully paid member with active voting rights. Mr Rider was admitted as an Associate member of CPA Australia (known at the time as the Australian Society of Accountants) on 8 January 1997 after fulfilling the work experience requirements and successfully completing the Australian Society of Accountants examinations.
With the introduction of the new designation, Mr Rider attained CPA status on 14 August 1998. Mr Rider has been a member in good standing for the duration of his membership with CPA Australia, and has never been subject to any disciplinary sanctions or investigation.
Steven is also a Chartered Accountant member number 3177200 with Public Practice Certificate designation.
In 1999 Mr Rider became founding partner in an accounting practice named Rider Business Consulting & Advisors (forerunner to the current Rider Accountants & Advisors). The practice grew to nearly 25 staff and two partners with a number of key mid-tier Australian companies as clients. Clients included NSW Lotteries, Australian Crime Commission, Healthscope Ltd, Falls Creek Resort, Nomura Securities, Nortel Networks and Catch of the Day among many others.
In 2004 Mr Rider began his property investing journey spurred on by fellow Chartered Accountant Steve McKnight’s landmark 2003 book” 0 to 130 Properties in 3.5 years”. In the ensuing 15 years Mr Rider bought and sold dozens of properties primarily in Sydney’s Inner West but also including Brisbane and Melbourne. Properties ranged from a whole floor city office to commercial warehouses, office suites, and numerous houses in the Sydney inner west suburbs of Erskineville and Newtown.
In 2014 Mr Rider sold the accounting software client base to a large competitor. He then worked for other companies in the group as Group CFO (whilst serving a non-compete period) ensuring all company, Trust, payroll, financial reporting, ASIC, ATO, tax, property and other accounting and business obligations were met before resuming the CPA and Chartered Accounting firm of Rider Accountants and Advisors in 2022.
Mr Rider is a registered Tax Agent, BAS Agent, ASIC agent as well as a Chartered Accountant and CPA in Public Practice. As well as being a member of the Association of Financial Accountants and The Tax Institute of Australia. Mr Rider is a Justice of the Peace and a Xero software champion.
An avid residential and commercial property investor for over 20 years and debt-free since 2019, Steven loves to champion other property investors on their journey by giving professional tax planning and ownership structuring advice to help minimise tax.
