Are you a business or Non-Profit nominating a new Tax Agent?

You’ll need to nominate a registered agent in Online services for business if you:

  • first engage an agent
  • change agents
  • change the authorisations you give an existing agent.

If you’re already represented by an agent and don’t make any changes, you don’t need to do anything.

If you’re new to our online services, you’ll need to get a myGovIDExternal Link with at least a Standard identity strength and link your organisation to your myGovID in Relationship access managerExternal Link. If the primary person (usually the director or responsible person for your organisation) only has a Standard identity strength they will need to call us to link their organisation to their myGovID.

Once this is completed, adding your agent just requires a few steps.

You’ll need your agent’s registered agent number (RAN) or practice name, and then:

  • log into Online services for business using your myGovID
  • select Profile
  • agent details
  • agent nominations
  • complete the required information
  • notify your agent that you’ve nominated them.

Your agent will then be authorised to engage with us on your behalf and lodge forms for you. If you nominate a tax agent, they can also lodge the new annual self-review returnon your behalf from the 2023-24 income year
